After RoboTech Vision completed the first phase of the project — a study for a Semi-Autonomous Reconnaissance Robotic Vehicle — it successfully applied for its continuation, the realization of a prototype for such a device. In cooperation with the Armed Forces Academy of the SR and the company Zetor Engineering, they will create a platform intended for the defense purposes of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.

Over a period of ten months, the development company RoboTech Vision, in cooperation with the General Milan Rastislav Štefánik Armed Forces Academy, developed a study aimed at finding an intersection between the needs of the military and the solutions they have developed within research and development over recent years. The result is a design for a functional prototype of a semi-autonomous robotic platform intended for the defense purposes of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.

The company RoboTech Vision, in cooperation with the General Milan Rastislav Štefánik Armed Forces Academy and the company Zetor Engineering Slovakia, has received financial support for the project titled “Realization of a Prototype of a Semi-Autonomous Mobile Robotic Platform” from:

The Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic

Robot for defense purposes

The goal of the second phase of the project, which was successfully approved, is the actual realization of such a device. RoboTech Vision will provide the sensory system and their own algorithms, including autonomous robot navigation and artificial intelligence focused on human interaction. Zetor Engineering Slovakia will be the supplier of a durable chassis adapted to the needs of the military and for the deployment of artificial intelligence algorithms. The Armed Forces Academy of the SR will be responsible for the integration of its own military solutions, such as gunfire direction detection, weapon type identification, and similar features.

“The first phase of the project was mainly connected with analyses of the solutions available to us and the needs of the military. It included numerous discussions, presentations, and specifications. We are glad we were able to define the prototype that would be most suitable for these purposes. We have always strived to develop our algorithms for various types of platforms and test them in different environments. Thanks to this, we can now utilize them for this type of assignment as well. We look forward to the actual realization and cooperation, which will be an opportunity for each involved party to get to know a new industry more closely.”

CEO, RoboTech Vision

In the years 2025 – 2027, robotics experts, professionals in the production of robust chassis, and members of the state military university will thus cooperate on a durable prototype capable of moving autonomously in an unknown environment, mapping terrain, evaluating risk, and interacting with humans. If necessary, the platform can assist infantry in transporting equipment in a teleoperator mode. The device is intended primarily for outdoor use and designed to be simple to transport as well. The project is funded by the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, and its approval is managed by the Modernization Section.
